The Internet has powered the corporate world
with techniques that allow global presence and 24x7 availability.
The trick lies in using these techniques effectively to manage
and accelerate business. Igenti Inc., is a US-based marketing
consultant that focuses on providing these web-centric solutions
to its clients for marketing and selling products to a larger
customer base.
Serving clients such as restaurants, automobile outlets, and corporate
houses, Igenti intended to develop a three-way solution to administer
its clients, who in turn, manage their customers, proactively.

Igenti wanted a comprehensive system with in-built
capabilities to design and mail customized newsletters to customers,
manage customers, process online orders using a customized shopping
cart, identify prospective clients and monitor the online transactions.
The entire cycle was highly sensitive and complex because Igenti
needed to meet the requirements of its clients and the market
they were targeting at. It required a customized web-based application
to enable clients to market and support their products using Internet-based
services. |

The Indicom team realized that a highly customized
set of features, integrated effectively to manage the Igenti-to-Client-to-Customer
hierarchy, would serve the purpose for Igenti. This hierarchy
was based on the requirements of Igenti clients such as, restaurants,
automobile outlets and corporate houses, who required a web-based
solution to reach out to a larger customer base.
After initial consultation and discussion with the Igenti team,
our development team prepared an extensive prototype that clearly
established the flow of information as it would happen in the
final product. Prototyping enabled us to identify the risk areas
in the project prior to commencing the actual development.
Once the prototype was approved by Igenti, we designed the backend
database using the SQL Server platform. Thereafter, the development
of the first front-end module, the Igenti Manager
began, followed by Igenti Suite and Igenti Order.
The entire development process underwent rigorous testing based
on parameters such as defect detection, adherence to market standards
and client requirements along with time tracking techniques to
meet the specified timeframe. As of now, the Igenti Manager,
Igenti Suite and Igenti Order modules have gone
live. The Igenti process model is displayed below. |

Igenti Manager
is the administrator module used by the Igenti staff and consultants
to manage client relationships and perform other functions for
the Igenti Suite module such as enabling the Igenti Suite channel
for individual clients. The module is responsible for managing
Igenti client channels, monitoring reports for client transactions,
configuring marketing policies, adding and removing customers
from the e-mail list of target customers.
Igenti Suite is a collection of sub-modules used by Igenti clients
and consultants to manage various activities such as customization
of marketing elements and creation of target lists. One Igenti
Suite system or channel is assigned to each client. The sub-modules
available with Igenti Suite include the marketing, assessment
and Opt-in modules, used for designing customized market elements
for clients, creating assessment forms for customer feedback and
generating target lists for prospective customers.
Igenti Order is a plug-in module available with Igenti Suite.
It is used to provide online shopping services to customers. The
focus of this module is to enable target customers an easy shopping
experience through secure channels. Customers can purchase gift
certificates and pre-paid vouchers online from an Igenti client.
Igenti offers this system to its restaurant clients and aims at
extending this module to other types of businesses such as corporate
houses and automobile outlets. Gift certificates and vouchers
are marketed to customers through client e-mail communication
available in Igenti Suite. |

| Igenti required a web-based application based
on the .NET functionality, which was newly launched by
Microsoft at the time of project planning and development. Being
a relatively new technology, .NET development was a new sphere
for Indicom. However, after understanding the client requirements
and the strengths of the .NET framework we concurred that .NET
was the best technology for developing a scalable application
like the Igenti family of products. Igenti product family was
developed using ASP.NET and SQL Server 2000 as the
backend. |

| We are extremely
pleased with the efforts of Indicom in relation to the development
of our Igenti family of marketing products. Indicom has
demonstrated a special commitment to the Client
with exceptional communication and attention throughout
the project. We find this to be a stellar attribute that
has resolved any initial uncertainty of our taking the Igenti
projects off-shore.
Their skills have improved substantially with .NET throughout
the project and today we are very pleased with the result.
Throughout the project we have been pleased with their responsiveness
to our requests, their willingness to address issues not
provided in the initial specification, their willingness
to resolve issues in need of repair, and their willingness
and ability to offer suggestions and alternatives that contribute
to the betterment of the products.
